Dalit Samaj protests against Bajwa in Jalandhar; seeks Dalit PCC president

Jalandhar,Hundreds of members of the Dalit Samaj today held a massive protest at Jalandhar demanding resignation of the Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa for his being anti-poor and anti-Dalit under the banner of the Dr Ambedkar Mission. They also demanded the appointment of a Dalit as the PCC president if the Congress was to be revived in Punjab.

The activists led by their Vicky Sahota, Naresh Nahar, Deepak Kumar Sonu burnt the effigy of the PCC president at the Workshop Chowk here. They were shouting slogans against Bajwa and seeking his immediate removal. They said, while Bajwa had ignored all the genuine and well meaning workers of the party, he had totally ignored the Dalit Samaj. He never attended any of their programmes even after making commitment.Kumar said that if the Congress was to be revived in Punjab, it must remove Bajwa and appoint some dalit leader as its state president. He warned that the Akalis and the BJP were already working among the dalits and whatever support base among the Dalits was left for the Congress that also will soon erode in case people like Bajwa continued to lead the party in the state. they said, Congress’ support base was among dalits and only a dalit president can save and revive the party

Among others present on the occasion included Sandeep Kumar Advocate, Sikander Gill, Rohan, Sandeep Kumar Sonu Advocate, Karan Manga, Gurmail Singh, Chinki, Lucky, Kamal Sahota, Monu Sahota, Moni Sahota, Raj Kumar Nagar, Sunil Hans.
