Congress legislators condemn Bajwa for seeking Capt Amarinder’s expulsion

captain-amrinder-singh-partap-singh-bajwa-700x525Chandigarh, Congress legislators today condemned Partap Singh Bajwa for seeking expulsion of senior leader and former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh from the party.

“It is an irony that the most unpopular leader of Congress like Partap Bajwa is seeking the expulsion of the most popular leader of the party in Punjab”, they remarked, saying Bajwa was badly mistaken if he thought that he could make some political bargain out of speaking against Capt Amarinder.

Among those present on the occasion included Ashwani Sekhri, Jagmohan Singh Kang, Kewal Dhillon, Rana Gurjeet Singh, OP Soni, Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, Sukhjinder Randhawa, Ms Preneet Kaur, Randeep Nabha, Parminder Singh Pinky, Dr Raj Kumar Verka, Ramanjit Singh Sikki, Balbir Sidhu, Karan Kaur Brar, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Hardayal Kambhoj, Rajneesh Babbi, Sanghat Singh Gilzian, Gur Iqbal Kaur, Bibi Harchand Kaur, Mohamad Sadiq, Navtej Cheema, Gurkirat Singh Kotli, Ajaib Singh Bhatti, Joginder Singh Panjgraian, Sukh Sarkaria, Gurcharan Singh Boparai, Amrik Dhillon, Sunder Shyam Arora, Charanjit Singh Channi, Tarlochan Soond and Aruna Chaudhary,

Questioning his locus standi on seeking Capt Amarinder’s expulsion, they said, he was far too junior than him (Capt Amarinder) to make such statements, apparently out of frustration.

Referring to Bajwa’s interview to some television channels today wherein he had demanded removal of Capt Amarinder from the party, the legislators said, “it is ironic that the man whom everybody wants to be removed and relieved of all the party positions in Punjab was seeking the expulsion of the most popular leader in the state whom everybody wants to lead the party”.

The legislators also condemned Bajwa for trying to create confusion by distorting what Capt Amarinder said about the change of leadership in the Congress. They advised Bajwa to better learn and understand what Capt Amarinder had said before putting his foot in his own mouth.

They pointed out, Capt Amarinder had time and again reiterated that he was not against Rahul Gandhi’s elevation as the Congress president, but this was not the right time for him to be elevated as only Ms Sonia Gandhi could lead the party under current circumstances.

Asserting that Bajwa was deliberately trying to sow discord within the rank and file of the party to damage it further as he had no stakes left in the party as his removal was imminent and inevitable, they urged him to better be quiet and quit the party as he had already done enough damage. “For heaven’s sake and for the sake of party please muster some courage to quit as there is nothing more left for you to damage the party further”, they told Bajwa.
