Chandigarh, The leaders of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee today questioned the reprehensible and malicious intention of the former chief minister Capt. Amarinder Singh to demolish Mr Rahul Gandhi at a very crucial juncture when he was to launch his massive drive to mobilise the masses against anti-people policies of the Narendra Modi government with a massive rally of the farmers in Delhi on April 19 arguing that he was inexperienced.
“Rather than launching a tirade against Mr Bajwa which is part of the campaign of Capt Amarinder Singh under whose leadership the party has been facing humiliating defeats one after another to recapture the centre stage in the state by hook or by crook, his supporters should have rather come out with their plans to make the April 19 rally a huge success. It is now amply clear that Capt Amarinder Singh is not only targeting Mr Gandhi who was a hurdle in his objective but also to sabotage the rally. In case Capt. Amarinder Singh had any reservations about Mr Rahul Gandhi being given the responsibility and had his intentions been sincere, he should have taken up the issue at the party forum and with Shrimati Sonia Gandhi rather than giving vent to his feelings from a public platform”, the party leaders said.
They included Ravneet Singh Bittu Member Parliament, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Surinder Dawar, Charanjit Kaur Bajwa, Ajitinder Singh Mofar MLAs, Surinder Pal Singh Sibia Ex-MLA, Joginder Singh Mann Ex-Minister, Jasbir Singh Dimpa Ex-MLA, Rajanbir Singh Genral Secretary PPCC, Gurpartap Singh Mann, Rajinder Deepa, Prof. Gurwinder Singh Mamanke, Paramjit Singh Randhawa Secretaries PPCC, Inderpal Singh Dhanna, Chairman Legal Deptt. PPCC Amajad Khan Chairman, Minority Cell PPCC, Gurpreet Singh, President, Ludhiana (Urban), Anil Vij, District President, Pathankot, Harbagh Singh (Ropar), Paramjit Singh Mann (Barnala), Rajiv Bhagat (Amritsar Urban), Mai Roop Kaur, Sangrur, Gura Singh Tungwali (Bathinda Rural), Bikram Singh Mofar (Mansa), Dharam Pal (Nawan Shahar), Mohan Lal Jhumba (Bathinda Urban) and several others.
They said Capt Amarinder Singh had even gone to the extent of saying that the leaders like him might have to consider other options in case Mr Gandhi took over which amounted to open revolt.
They demanded that Capt. Amarinder Singh must be shown the door as none would agree to his contention that he was not opposing Mr Gandhi but was against the timing of his take over which was just a lame excuse.
