Congress insulting PM Narendra Modi by asking CMs to boycott events : BJP

New Delhi, The ruling BJP on Thursday slammed the Congress for instructing its chief ministers not to share dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP said that the Congress was insulting the Prime Minister and breaching constitutional propriety by issuing such directives.

The Congress directive came on Wednesday, a day after Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was booed by people at an event in Kaithal attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Following the development, Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan decided not to share dais with the Prime Minister today at the foundation-laying ceremony of metro rail project in Nagpur.

Hooda has already vowed not to share dais with PM Modi again.

Commenting on the Haryana incident, the BJP said that such reactions reflect the anger of the people against the chief minister and his government.

While noting that BJP chief ministers did not boycott the Congress PM (Manmohan Singh) during the UPA regime, the party said the Grand Old Party can run away from PM Modi’s dais but not from his popularity.

Party sokesperson Nalin Kohli, meanwhile, asked the Congress not to play politics on the issue.

“The Prime Minister is constantly trying to strengthen the federal structure. Congress CMs should not play politics on it,” Kohli said.
