MOHALI, December 29: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Sigh today announced that his party’s government will probe the revelations made by Gurmeet Singh Pinky about killing of youth in fake encounters.
The PCC president said, what Pinky has revealed appears to be the tip of the iceberg only and the Congress government will ensure to find out the entire truth. “As a civilised society we cannot allow such things to happen and those who did it must face the music”, he said, while talking to reporters after participating in the dharna being staged by the ‘Shikhya Providers’ (Education Providers) for regularisation.
He said that Pinky had made shocking revelations which cannot be accepted in a constitutional and democratic society. “We will reach to the root of the matter and ensure the guilty are punished”, he said.
Capt Amarinder announced that all the Shikhya Providers will be regularised after the Congress forms government. He wondered as why the government was not regularising their services when it had announced to recruit one lakh people in the government jobs. He regretted that the teachers who are the builders of the nation are given such a raw deal by the Punjab government.
Replying to another question, the PCC president said, Congress was far ahead of the ruling SAD-BJP alliance and certain to form the government. He said, Aam Aadmi Party may be able to cause some noise but when it comes to election it really did not have any scope in Punjab leave aside forming the government.
He pointed out, Punjab had suffered ten years of Akali misrule and it cannot afford another five years of chaos. “People are wise enough to make a distinction as what we did between 2002 and 2007 and what Akalis did in ten years and what the AAP has done in Delhi”, he said, adding, Punjab needs a government which has both competence and experience and only Congress can provide that government.
Capt Amarinder also assured the protesting employees of the Greater Mohali Development Authority, who are demanding pension and other facilities that their demands will be met after the Congress forms the government.
The PCC president was accompanied by local MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu, former MLA Rana KP Singh and others.
