CHANDIGARH, December 18: The Congress party today asked the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal to clarify its stand about the role of Sumedh Singh Saini during the militancy in view of the recent allegations levelled by former cop Pinky. “It is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black”, they said, while reacting to Akali Dal reaction to Capt Amarinder Singh’s demand for action against Mr Saini.

Responding to Akali Dal spokesperson Harcharan Singh Bains statement defending Mr Saini, senior Congress leaders including Sukhjinder Randhawa, Kewal Singh Dhillon, Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, Rana Gurjeet Singh and Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said, it was surprising that the same Akali Dal which used to level serious allegations against Saini had now come to his defence.

The Congress leaders reiterated that Capt Amarinder Singh has made a genuine and justified demand for Saini’s removal since the allegations against him have been made by a cop who has been witness to everything.

Ridiculing SAD question as why Capt Amarinder did not take action against Saini when he was the CM, they pointed out, the cases were already going on against Saini during his Chief Ministership in the courts.

“Unlike Badal, Capt Amarinder never defended him in the courts and paid for his bills”, they pointed out, adding, “nor did Capt Amarinder supersede senior police officers to appoint him the DGP”.
