The expulsion orders were issued by PPCC president Sunil Jakhar. These leaders are Suman Bala, contestant from Ward No. 1; Vishal Sharma (Ward No. 18); Sarvjeet Singh Lati (Ward No. 72); Nisha Dhillon (Ward No. 79) and her husband Swaraj Bir Singh Dhillon; Lakhwinder Kumar Sharma (Ward number 85); Annu Khanna (Ward number 81) and her relatives Deepak Khanna and Mahesh Khanna.
Meanwhile, the District Congress Committee (DCC) today accused a Home Guards commandant, Jaskaran Singh, of attempting to influence voters in Ward number 64, from where his father, Amrik Singh, is contesting as an Independent.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, DCC (Urban) president, said the commandant, posted in Jalandhar district, and Home Guards jawans pressured voters to cast the ballot in favour of Amrik Singh. Local Congress leaders submitted a written complaint to ADC (Development) and Additional Electoral Officer Ravinder Singh.
Denying the allegations, Jaskaran said Congress leaders were exerting pressure to make his father withdraw in favour of the party candidate.
