Cong cries foul as sports kits with Sukhbir’s photos seized on poll eve

Dhuri, A truck carrying sports kits with pictures of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was today allegedly seized by Congress activists at Jahangir village, 16 km from here, in the bypoll-bound Dhuri Assembly constituency.
After the recovery, the Congress activists were quick to approach the poll officials and demanded necessary action.
Punjab Pradesh Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa alleged that these kits were meant for distribution among rural voters. He alleged the Shiromani Akali Dal was indulging in corrupt practices to influence the voters and, thus, register a victory by “hook or crook”.
The PPCCpresident claimed it was evident that there was panic in the ruling party. He alleged that as campaigning for the election ended today, the Akali Dal activists would now start distributing money to buy votes, “as had been the practice within the party”.
Rajesh Dhiman, Returning Officer (RO)-cum-Dhuri Sub-Divisional Magistrate, confirmed that they had taken a truck carrying 10 to 12 sports kits, having pictures of Sukhbir Badal, into possession. He said they had confiscated the sports kits and had written to the police to take necessary legal action.
