Sangrur, May 15- Terming that Youth Akali Dal (YAD) was the backbone of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today said that the organization should play a proactive role for weeding out the various social maladies confronted by the society these days.

Interacting with the YAD activists after launching the membership drive of the Malwa II zone here today, the Chief Minister said that YAD was the nursery of SAD as the youth activists of today would further groom and become the representatives of the people tomorrow. He said that in this way the YAD has a lot of responsibility to strengthen the party on one hand and propagate its pro-people and development oriented policies on the other. “I hope this drive will further provide vigor to you and infuse a new zeal to serve the people with far more commitment and dedication” added Mr. Badal.

The Chief Minister said that india today was the youngest country in the world with 65% of its population below the age of 35 but unfortunately our country was confronting a number of problems. He said that the youth of every country were its valuable human resource as the responsibility for change, progress and innovation lies on their shoulders. Mr. Badal said that the youth have the zeal to initiate revolutions and the youth of our country has played a significant role in the freedom struggle.

The Chief Minister further said that the supreme sacrifices of our national heroes like Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Kartar Singh Saraba etc. was reflective of this indomitable spirit of youth. Therefore, he said that it was the need of the hour that our youth follows the footsteps of these youth icons to play a pro-active role in the overall development and prosperity of the country. “You are brave, innovative and blessed with unbounded energy that can be aptly channelized for the welfare of the society” added Mr. Badal.

Thanking the Chief Minister for sparing his valuable time to initiate this move in Malwa zone, the President of Malwa zone II of YAD Mr. Harpal Juneja assured him that every activist of YAD would serve the party with sweat and toil. He said that they would leave no stone unturned to disseminate the message of Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister & SAD President Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal amongst the masses.

The Chief Minister accompanied by former Union Minister Mr. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Cabinet Minister Mr. Parminder Singh Badal, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Babu Parkash Chand Garg, Chairman Punjab Agro Food grains Jathedar Dyal Singh Kolianwali and his Special Principal Secretary Mr. KJS Cheema.
