Chandigarh, October 17: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday strongly condemned the attack on District Incharge of Punjabi Jagran newspaper of Tarn Tarn Japsal Singh Jassi and directed the DGP to immediately nab and take against the culprits.
In a statement issued here, the Chief Minister warned that no one would be allowed to take the law in their own hands and the culprits behind the attack would be dealt severely as per the law of the land.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also asked the Deputy Commissioner Amritsar to ensure best possible treatment to the injured scribe, who had been referred to Guru Nanak Medical College and Hospital Amritsar. The entire cost of treatment would be borne by the State Government.
Reiterating his firm commitment to uphold the freedom of press, the Chief Minister said that nobody would be allowed to scuttle the freedom of the Press.
CM’s Media Advisor Raveen Thukral has also strongly condemned the incident and assured that strict action will be taken against the culprits.
