Chandigarh, Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal was accorded rousing welcome by his Cabinet and party colleagues on his return from weeklong official visit to China, here at his residence this afternoon.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that Mr. Badal described the visit as very effective and fruitful and hoped that it would certainly yield positive results in due course of time in bringing blue revolution in Punjab. He said that the Punjabi fish farmers accompanying him were highly impressed by the latest innovative and technological advancements adopted by their counterparts in China due to which they were getting a record production to 32-33 ton fish per hectare as compared to merely six ton per hectare in Punjab. Mr. Badal said, “Punjabi Fish farmers with wide horizon and experience can do miracles with their unbounded capacities and capabilities, provided they were supported by the novel technology and expertise.” Mr. Badal said that his government would soon take up all the issues with the consulate of China through the Indian government for taking them to the logical end.
The Chief Minister said that the proposals like setting up of modern Fish feed factory, advance Freshwater fishery centre on the pattern of Freshwater Fishery Research Center (FFRC) Wuxi besides sponsoring the Punjabi students interested in seeking Bachelor and Masters Degree in advanced fisheries from China would be put on the fast track mode by regular monitoring by a special cell to be headed by the Financial Commissioner Animal Husbandry. Mr. Badal also said that he would soon convene a meeting of all the senior officers of the Fisheries department to regularly keep a tab on the progress of these issues besides working out modalities for the proposed MoU to be inked between Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (JAAS) and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana.
