Toronto firefighters freed a child from a locked car in Etobicoke Sunday morning, as temperatures climbed. Capt. Stephan Powell of Toronto fire said the child was inside a car parked on Sixth Street near the lake shore Sunday morning. Emergency crews were called to the scene at 8:38 a.m. The car was parked in the shade, but Powell said the child inside was becoming distressed. A tow truck driver opened the door of the car to free the child, but firefighters were equipped to break the car’s window if necessary. Powell said the child’s parents accidentally locked both sets of keys to their vehicle in the car and called 911. It was not a case of neglect by parents. The child was taken from the vehicle and Powell said no ambulance was required.
