Chandigarh, August 2: Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra who represents Anandpur Sahib in the Lok Sabha, has achieved the distinction of being 30 top best performing Lok Sabha law makers in the country during the current year and the only representative from Punjab in this category.
The criteria for this selection include maintaining close linkage with the electorate, style of working, personality, influence, impression, image, identity, presence in the House, participation in the House proceedings, the number of private bills moved, the number of questions asked, utilisation of MP local area development fund etc.
The survey has been conducted by the news magazine Asia Post.
It may be mentioned that Prof Chandumajra has achieved this distinction successively for the second time. He had been on the top in Punjab last year too.
He is the most visible face from Punjab who has participated in almost every discussion on national issues not just during the year under lens but throughout his career in the Lower House.
The issues concerning Punjab that he has raised forcefully in the Lok Sabha relate to farmers, religio-political and those people in general, besides the ones specific to the Anandpur Sahib constituency. The farmers in the Kandi belt in Punjab face the menace of threat to crops from wild animals. This issue calls for centre’s intervention. He has worked hard to get grants for specific grants like in the field of tourism. Anandpur Sahib is on the international circuit of religious tourism.
He has been on the top in the state in the matter of utilisation of MP local area development fund.
