Centre Encourages States To Develop Logistics Policies For Business Growth

In a move aimed at promoting economic growth and streamlining business operations, the government has called upon states to formulate their own logistics policies.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry made this announcement, highlighting the potential benefits of such policies in enhancing the ease of doing business within each state.

The primary objective behind this call is to encourage states to align their policies with the National Logistics Policy (NLP), ultimately fostering a more holistic approach to logistics management in public policy. As part of this initiative, states are also urged to integrate quality data into their respective state master plans to support the nationwide PM GatiShakti initiative, which is dedicated to improving the planning and execution of critical infrastructure projects.

Grassroots GatiShakti adoption

The discussions surrounding these pivotal matters took place during a meeting convened by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) on August 31. The meeting, chaired by DPIIT Special Secretary Sumita Dawra, was convened with the primary objective of promoting the broader adoption of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP).
