Cashless scheme poorly though out, says Chhotepur

Chandigarh, Feb 15. Aam Aadmi Party Punjab Convenor, Mr Such Singh Chhotepur said the Punjab Government was developing a reputation for promising the moon and failing to deliver.

Citing a media report of Private Hospitals threatening to withdraw from the government’s ambitious Bhagat Puran Singh Bima Yojna for employees and blue card holders within six weeks of its launch because of its un-viability, he said here today that the scheme was poorly thought out.

He said rather than fix problems in the scheme like low prices by budgeting for it realistically, the government wanted to extend the half-baked ‘cashless’ insurance to lakhs of farmers, traders & construction workers.

Expressing surprise at the rush displayed by the government to roll out the scheme to farmers when it was yet to issue health cards to almost three-fourths of its present 3.68 lakh beneficiaries, he said employees who had not been issued cards had lost the benefits of their previous insurance schemes as well.

Citing reports of card holders being denied ‘cashless’ treatment by private hospitals, he said this latest step was typical of the SAD-BJP governments knee jerk response to deep-rooted problems of Punjab.
