Amritsar, The Congress postponed its ‘Lalkar rally’ to January 24 because of rain forecast by the Meteorological Department for January 22.
The decision was taken at a meeting held by party leaders, including rally coordinator Rana Gurjeet Singh and MLAs Ashwani Sekhri, OP Soni, Sukh Sarkaria, Dr Raj Kumar Verka, Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa and Sukhjinder Randhawa.
“There was a general consensus that the rally may be postponed in view of the rain forecast on January 22,” read a release issued here today.
Former CM and Amritsar MP Capt Amarinder Singh had announced the rally in response to BJP president Amit Shah’s plan to launch an anti-drug drive from the holy city the same day. The BJP postponed its rally after the Delhi elections were announced.
