Captain takes strong exception to SDM’s protocol breach towards Nagra

Chandigarh, Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh today took strong exception to the breach of protocol by the Fatehgarh Sahib SDM while dealing with the party MLA Kuljeet Singh Nagra.
“Do not try to play utraloyalists to the Akalis, do your job dutifully, lest you have to account for everything in the next government that is not too far”, he warned all such officers who were trying to do the bidding of some Akali leaders, in a statement issued here today.
The former Chief Minister said, the Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha must take suo motto notice of the incident and summon the concerned SDM for breach of privileges of an elected legislator. He wondered, if this be the behaviour of the officers with the elected representatives, what would be the plight of the common man.
Capt Amarinder said that the officers must know and understand that while dealing with the elected representatives of people they must maintain certain protocol as they are accountable to people.
“Just because someone belongs to the party which is not in power does not mean that the officers should resort to behaviour unbecoming of them”, he observed, while warning such officials who were trying to prove to be ultra-loyalists to the current regime.
Rubbishing the allegations by the SDM that Nagra used foul language, Capt Amarinder said, everybody knows him (Nagra) as he is a responsible representative of the people. Moreover, he added, Nagra is a senior party leader working as national secretary of the Congress.
