Ottawa, The Transportation Safety Board says the city bus which collided with a train last year was travelling above the speed limit at the time of the fatal crash.
The board estimates that the OCTranspo bus was doing 67.6 kilometres an hour, just over the posted 60-kilometre limit.
The crash killed six people on the bus, including the driver.
The board’s interim report says a coroner found that driver Dave Woodard had no medical issues at the time of his death and drug and alcohol tests were negative
The report recommends that the city of Ottawa should review the number of video monitors installed in its buses, suggesting too many monitors could be distracting for drivers.
It also recommends that the city monitor the speed of OC Transpo buses at railway crossings.
