Bribery Barb by Kejriwal Sign of Frustration in AAP: BJP

NEW DELHI: BJP today condemned the allegations by AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal that it was offering enticements to voters, saying that was a sign of “frustration” within the rival party as the people were “coming out in good numbers” to vote for the saffron outfit.

“People are coming out in good numbers to vote for a stable and effective government and for good governance.

Probably that is the reason why there is frustration in Aam Aadmi Party,” Union Minister and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said here as Delhi voted to choose legislators for its 70-member Assembly.

“BJP condemns the allegations made by its (AAP’s) leader that we are trying to distribute money and liquor. This is an indication of their desperation,” he added.

Encouraged by what it described as a high voter turnout, BJP said that the way people were coming out to vote, it was an effective vote in favour of the saffron outfit.

Prasad said that the feedback from the ground indicated that people were voting in favour of BJP, which was why there are clear signs of desperation in the AAP camp.

“We expect the voters to give Delhi a stable government,” he said.

Earlier, Kejriwal had urged people to not vote for the parties who have “distributed alcohol and money” among voters.

Meanwhile, senior ministers and some BJP leaders assessed the voting pattern in Delhi with BJP President Amit Shah at the party headquarters here.

Shah will also chair a meeting of all senior party leaders at the BJP office where top leaders of its Delhi unit will be present to analyse the voting.

The party will also discuss the emerging political situation in Bihar, where the party is seeking to stage a comeback on its own ever since it broke ties with its old ally JD-U.
