KENORA, Ont. – Provincial police say the body of a missing First Nations girl has been found near where she was last seen late last week in Kenora, Ont.
They say Azraya Kokopenace left Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora late Friday night and was seen entering a wooded area across from the hospital.
Police say a search for the 14-year-old began immediately and continued with the help of a large number of police and community resources, including a canine unit and Ministry of Natural Resources helicopter.
OPP say Kokopenace’s body was found late Sunday afternoon by members of the Bear Clan who were assisting in the search.
Police say foul play is not suspected at this time, but add that the investigation is continuing.
