Black ‘Badals’ of fear, insecurity are hovering over Punjab: Manish Tewar

manish-mLUDHIANA, May 3: Expressing grave concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab and the molestation and murder of a young girl in a bus, senior Congress leader and former union minister Manish Tewari today said that there was feeling of fear and insecurity prevailing among people everywhere in the state.

“The black ‘badals’ (clouds) of fear and insecurity are hovering over the horizon across Punjab”, he said in a statement issued here today, while adding, “nobody was feeling safe and the unfortunate thing was that the government was not concerned at all”.

He said, what happened in Moga was the outcome of the deteriorating law and order situation as the criminals have no fear of law. He pointed out, heineous crimes were being committed in Punjab with all impunity with no fear of law anywhere as the Akali-BJP alliance appears to have abdicated all the responsibility.

“It is a strange irony that while the common man is feeling scared and insecure the criminals have no fear of law and they are committing all sorts of crimes with brute impunity”, he observed, while adding, this is because those supposed to govern seem to have forgotten governance and public welfare and are instead focussed on their own personal and vested interests.

Tewari said, the situation had reached a flashpoint and people of Punjab were feeling restive and restless. “It is high time for the government to act or leave as otherwise Punjab was doomed into anarchy”, he warned.
