Chandigarh, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh has strongly condemned the murderous attack on Raja Joshi, the younger brother of BJP leader and Cabinet Minister Anil Joshi and some other BJP workers.
Reacting to the firing on Raja Joshi in Tarn Taran on Tuesday, Chugh said that it is unfortunate that Akali councillors and other leaders of the party attacked the leaders and workers of its alliance partner in broad daylight and in the administrative complex just outside the offices of the DC and the SSP.
Terming the incident as a blow to the democracy in the state Chugh said that the incident has raised serious questions about the law and order situation.
Condemning the incident in strongest possible words, Chugh said that the party was more than clear that it won’t compromise on either the respect or the security of its cadres in Punjab.
Chugh has urged chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to immediately order registration of FIR under section 307 against the accused and also order dismissal of SSP Manmohan Sharma and SHO Nirmalo Singh. He condemned the attitude of the policemen who remained mute spectators while Akali leaders attacked and fired upon the BJP workers.
The BJP leader also condemned inaction on the part of the SSP even after the incident came to light and demanded strict action against him for acting irresponsibly.
Chugh warned officials who were targeting BJP leaders and workers at the behest of powers that be and said that his party won’t tolerate such attitude. He said that BJP will definitely act against such officers who were playing a partisan role under orders of some leaders.
He also said that the BJP was in the process of preparing a list of properties amassed by such officers and the list after finalization would be forwarded to the Home ministry and the PMO.
