Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Patry (BJP) on Friday announced their participation in Shiromani Akali Dal’s ‘Sadbhawna’ rallies.
The rallies are scheduled to begin on November 23. The BJP, which had previously refused to participate in the rally citing SAD’s “unilateral decision” to hold them, said they would now join it for communal brotherhood.
Referring to sacrilege incidents in the state last month, the BJP welcomed to Punjab cabinet’s decision to recommend life imprisonment for those found guilty and demanded extending such stringent punishments for those guilty of such acts of blasphemy to other religions.
Sources claim that the NDA’s massive loss in the Bihar elections recently may have contributed to changing their mind about the rally.
