Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tore into the BJP, his party’s main political rival, over leaders promoting The Kashmir Files across the country.
Most BJP-ruled states have made the film tax-free to encourage more people to watch it.
Speaking at the Assembly, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party mocked BJP workers who were seen plastering the poster of the film on walls across the national capital. “Is this why you have joined politics? To put up posters of films?” he asked in derision.
“What do you tell your children when they ask you about your work? Do you tell them: ‘Movie ka poster lagata hoon (I put movie posters),” he asked to roars of laughter and support in the 70-member Assembly where the party has 62 MLAs.
“It doesn’t suit you, putting posters of “jhoothi” films like TheKashmirFiles. It does not look good,” he said, targeting BJP workers.

“Hitler at least gave jobs to his cronies. What job did Modi ji give your children? Did he give electricity? Did he give you medicine? I gave jobs to 12 lakh people in Delhi. I fixed schools and delivered medicine to your homes. BJP people – wake up. Leave BJP and join AAP,” Kejriwal said, bursting out in laughter.
Kejriwal pummeled the BJP for making the film tax free in several states, saying: “Why not release the film on YouTube? That way it will be free for all. If you are so passionate about the film, ask Vivek Agnihotri to upload it on YouTube.” Several BJP leaders have pressed the government in the national capital to extend tax breaks to the film, which has grossed over Rs 200 crore in two weeks.
