BJP has no locus-standi to speak on the issue of drugs :- Khaira

Chandigarh, Punjab Congress Leader and Ex-Mla Sukhpal Singh Khaira today said that It is good that Amit Shah President BJP has cancelled his proposed Amritsar rally on the issue of drugs, as the BJP which has been a partner of the Akali Dal for the past 18 years i.e. 1997-2015, has no locus-standi to speak on the issue of drug menace.

In a press statement khaira said that Needless to mention, BJP due to its alliance with the Akali Dal is equally responsible not only for the widespread drug abuse in Punjab, but the blatant “loot” of state’s resources. It is also responsible for the Jungle-Raj, anarchy and lawlessness that prevails in Punjab, besides wrecking the economy of the state.he added

Only recently when the Congress moved a no-confidence motion against the SAD-BJP government on the issue of drugs and Bikram Majithia, the BJP voted against the motion and in favour of Bikram Majithia and drugs. By doing so, the BJP clearly became partners with the Akali Dal in their crime of drugging Punjab. It was the backlash and public anger against the BJP, that forced Amit Shah to cancel the 22ndJanuary Amritsar rally, as they had realized that the rally would be an utter flop show.he added

Now the latest political posturing of the BJP of jointly attending the “Maghi” rally at Mukatsar and deciding to contest Delhi and the municipal elections together, the BJP it appears has totally succumbed to the dictates of the Badal duo. The prime reason for this reverse summersault is the greed and lust of the BJP Ministers and MLA’s to carry on with the “loot”, that they have been doing for the past many years. It is an open secret, that most BJP Ministers like their counterpart Akali’s have hijacked the trades of illegal sand mining, liquor, real estate, cable network etc. They too have indulged in rampant corruption like their Akali brotheren. Khaira Said

Therefore, Congress advises the BJP not to further befool and mislead the people of Punjab, by making tall claims of launching a drive against drugs. It is a perfect case of the BJP trying to “run with the hare and hunt with the hound” at the same time, which the electorate of the state can see very clearly. If the BJP is genuinely serious to curb drugs, let it make a beginning by quitting the government, allowing a free hand to the Enforcement Directorate to arrest Bikram Majithia, only then they can have some locus-standi to speak about drugs.
