Chandigarh, April 8: Acting on the recommendation of the three member committee, Punjab Congress President Capt Amarinder Singh today expelled party rebel and former deputy speaker Birdevinder Singh for six years.
It may be mentioned that he had at one stage joined the Akali Dal and then tried his luck with People’s Party of Punjab constituted by Manpreet Singh Badal.
Birdevinder Singh had recently written against party functioning under Capt Amarinder Singh.
He was served show cause notice that he did not even acknowledge. Congress poll strategist Prashant Kishor had met Birdevinder to sort out the irritants but his mediation remained futile.
