BIHAR COURT ORDERS FIR AGAINST AMITABH BACHCHAN, MADHURI DIXIT AND PREITY ZINTA FOR ENDORSING MAGGI

amitabh-madhuri-_pbupadte-com-700x525Muzaffarpur (Bihar): A court in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, on Tuesday ordered that an FIR be filed against Bollywood celebrities Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and preity zinta for endorsing Maggi noodles. The court also ordered FIR against Nestle, the manufacturer of Maggi.

A criminal case was filed on Monday in a district court here against officials of “Maggie” noodles-maker Nestle and the Bollywood stars who are brand ambassadors of the “harmful” food item.

The case was filed by a lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha in the court of Muzaffarpur Chief Judicial Magistrate Ved Prakash Singh.

Ojha, who is pleading his own case, had said the CJM had transferred the case to the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Ramchandra Prasad who would hear it on Tuesday.

The complainant claimed that he purchased Maggie on May 30 and that he was taken ill after he ate it. This prompted him to file a case against Nestle, the make of Maggie noodles, and the film stars who are the product’s brand ambassadors.

Besides Bachachan and Dixit, the name of another Bollywood actress preity zinta also appeared in the case.

The case has been filed under IPC sections 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 273 (sale of noxious food or drink), 276 (sale of drug as a different drug or preparation) and 420 (cheating and dishonesty).
