Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, Union Food Processing Minister and Akali Dal MP from Bathinda Harsimrat Kaur Badal got a big relief today as the Punjab and Haryana High Court dismissed the election petition against her.
The Bench consisting Justice S K Grover said the petition had been filed a day late as against the stipulated time period of 45 days after the declaration of results. He said as such, there was no merit in the case.
The petition had been filed by Malout resident Navjot Singh praying for the annulling her election on the plea of seeking votes in the name of religion and for not providing exact details of her poll expenditure. The petitioner had also sought her disqualification.
He had made out the case that as against the expenditure of Rs 10,15,17,022, she had shown only Rs 52, 28, 950 as total expenses.
It had also been alleged that religious symbols were used in the ads displayed by TV channels.
