Bibi Jagir gets going for Delhi poll

Jalandhar, Having remained in political hibernation for more than two years, former Punjab minister Bibi Jagir Kaur has started to assume an active role in state politics. Convicted for kidnap and forcible abortion, she is out on bail.Appointed president of the women’s wing of the party in September last year, she has started touring various districts, holding meetings with women jathas and nominating office-bearers. She has now convened a state-level meeting of the women’s wing at Chandigarh on January 20 to assign duties for the forthcoming Delhi Assembly poll.“Badal Sahib has assigned me a new role. I will work hard to come up to his expectations. Most of the women members I have chosen for canvassing in Delhi are postgraduates or former MLAs and MPs,” she says.
