New Delhi, Noted cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle is still clueless about the reasons for his ouster from the IPL panel but hoped that players’ complaint has nothing to do with his removal. “I still don’t know why I am not doing the IPL,” Bhogle posted on his Facebook page. “I haven’t been told. I can accept the fact that people don’t like me. But I genuinely hope it isn’t because cricketers have complained about what I have to say.”
Speculation is rife that some Indian cricketers have complained against Bhogle to the BCCI for his comments on air but the exact reason for his last-minute sacking from the IPL commentators’ panel is not yet known.
“I tell every young cricketer who cares to listen that we will never agree on everything but I will always desire that they do well; that I cannot stop them from scoring a run, or taking a wicket or holding a catch.
“Doing that is their job, telling the story of what they did, or didn’t, is mine. Our paths will be strewn with admiration and disagreement. It is the nature of the job whether you are a university-level cricketer or among the best there has been. And, for heaven’s sake, my greatest criticism is that I don’t do enough of it,” he wrote further.
Playing for same team, Watson, Gayle bury hatchet
Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is looking forward to playing alongside Indian swashbuckler Virat Kohli in the IPL. “I will get to play with Virat and that’s a huge buzz for me. I have had had a few battles with him on the field and always had the utmost respect for him,” he said.
Watson said that he and Chris Gayle have had few run-ins in the past, but have buried their differences for the sake of playing for RCB. “It’s amazing how the world works and how life works. Chris Gayle and myself have certainly had a few run-ins throughout our international careers. The day I got picked up by RCB in the auction, I saw Chris during the PSL. That was the day we had to bury the hatchet (laughs), knowing that I was going to be playing with him,” he said.
