Bhattal in ‘slap’ row

Sangrur

Former Punjab Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal today allegedly tried to slap an unemployed youth, Kuldeep Jatana of Bushera village, after he posed her some questions on lack of basic amenities in the village. Though she failed to slap Jatana in the face, she hit him on the shoulder while her security guard and supporters pushed him away.

“I have done MTech in information technology, but have no regular job. I also wanted to question Bhattal on lack of canal water supply for irrigation,” Jatana told The Tribune on the phone.

As the ex-CM did not give a satisfactory reply to his questions during the function, he posed those questions to her again while Congress candidate Kewal Singh Dhillon and Bhattal were leaving their village.

“Instead of replying to my questions, she tried to slap me. I ducked and she hit me on the shoulder. It’s really shocking that politicians are unwilling to take questions. Villagers will meet tomorrow to decide on future course of action in this regard,” he said.

Repeated attempts to contact Bhattal did not materialise as the person attending her calls said she was busy attending meetings. Congress leader Jagdish Chand, however, said, “She did not try to slap him, but only tried to pacify him. The matter has been resolved and there is no problem now.”
