Chandigarh, August 17: Former Punjab chief minister and senior Congress leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal today lashed out against former chief minister and Deputy Leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party Capt. Amarinder Singh terming his stand on the GST Bill as anti-party.

In an informal interaction with the media persons here, she said in case Capt Amarinder Singh was so concerned, he should have raised it in the Lok Sabha but be preferred to stay away from parliament for the reasons best known to him.

It may be mentioned that he had maintained that the adoption of the GST Bill would have been in the interest of Punjab but it could not be adopted due to disruption of the Parliament by the Congress led opposition.

She came out strongly against intensifying groupism at the top level in the state leadership, mainly between Capt Amarinder Singh and state party chief Partap Singh Bajwa, saying it would prove to be detrimental for the party in the Assembly elections.

She disclosed she had met AICC president Sonia Gandhi recently with the proposal to set up coordination committee to resolve the issue leadership crisis in Punjab Congress.

She made it clear she would not hold separate mass-contact programme or rallies in the state but rather participate in every political rally of the party to strengthen the Congress. She added that, she would participate in the mass-contact rally of the party at Sangrur on September 1.
