Khatkar Kalan (Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar), 23 March- Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal has demanded Bharat Ratna for Shaheed-E-Azam S. Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev from central government. He said that Punjab Government would write to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in this regard. He further said that state government has appealed to the central government to soon make an announcement about naming of Mohali airport after Shaheed-E-Azam S. Bhagat Singh.
He also said that the stand of SAD-BJP government is exemplary on SYL issue and the government is ready for any amendment in the act if need arose, to protect waters of Punjab. Launching a stinging attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister said that kejriwal’s double face has come to fore as he is changing his statements on water issue like a chameleon. He described plunder and exploitation of Punjab as only agenda of kejriwal on lines of east india company and advance his political motives.
Earlier, paying glowing tributes to Shaheed-E-Azam S. Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on behalf of Punjab Government on their martyrdom day, S. Badal said that the real tribute to martyrs would be that the youth should join hands with state government in waging war against drugs. He said that Punjab government has carried out unmatched and all round progress during previous 9 years which cannot be equalled by any other government. He described welfare schemes including—Shagan Scheme, Atta-Dal scheme, 200 units free power to S.C. families, Free power to farmers, Health Insurance for Traders & Farmers, Pension for freedom fighter families as special achievements of SAD-BJP government.
He also said that the bill passed by state government in Vidhan Sabha giving relief to farmers from debt is a historical move. He further said that interest free loan of Rs. 50000 for small farmers would prove beneficial to farming community.
Terming equation of kanhaiya with S. Bhagat Singh by congress leader Shashi Tharoor as condemnable, Deputy Chief Minister asked congress to come clean on issue. He also said that record made public by swiss bank of bank accounts of Punjab Congress Chief Captain Amarinder Singh’s family members is absolutely correct and the probe regarding the same was initiated during previous UPA regime.
Addressing a mamooth gathering on this occasion, S. Badal said that under dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, S. Parkash Singh Badal Punjab has become power surplus and road network is also being given facelift. Besides this, construction of bist doab canal is going on war footing to augument shortage of canal water in doaba region whereas, kandi canal is proposed to be completed in next 2 months to meet irrigation needs of kandi area.
Calling youth as real treasure of nation, Deputy Chief Minister disclosed that recruitment process has been initiated with regard to providing more than 1 lakh jobs to youth. Apart from this, skill centers are being opened in every block which would train around 2 lakh youth in one year.
Making a special announcement, S. Badal divulged 2000 that medical shops would be opened in Punjab where 206 life saving medicines would be provided free of cost and tests would also be conducted absolutely free of cost. On the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister honoured Paramjit Kaur niece of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Bharat Bhushan Thapar from family of Shaheed Sukhdev and Bubbly Nayyar
