Bengaluru will be developed with world-class amenities, says CM Bommai

He further attributed the present civic woes in the city to the failure of previous governments to take up underground drain works and develop roads.

The CM issued this statement while speaking at a programme to celebrate the 513th birth anniversary of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, the founder of Bengaluru. “We have resolved to develop Bengaluru into a city with amenities of international standards, and we are committed to making it a reality,” Bommai said, while also distributing scholarships for school children during the event.

The CM further said that tenders have been invited for the Peripheral Ring Road and that the work for this project will start this year itself. He also pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently laid the foundation stone for the Bengaluru Suburban Rail project.

Metro services are being extended, many beautification works have been taken up in Bengaluru and greater emphasis is being given to improving the city’s infrastructure, said CM Bommai.

The CM added, “Our government is committed to the comprehensive development of Bengaluru. Work on Rs 6,000 crore Nagarothana projects has started. About Rs 1,600 crore has been provided for the development of stormwater drains.”

CM Bommai further said that the current civic woes in Bengaluru were due to the previous government’s failure to take up underground drain works, develop roads and provide Cauvery water supply to many parts of the city.

Talking about traffic congestion in Bengaluru, the CM said that measures were being taken to ease the vehicular traffic flow and that satellite towns would be developed to decongest the city.
