Bengaluru: 4 including techie, his pregnant wife held for abducting engineer

A 22-year-old aerospace engineer, hailing from Haryana who was allegedly held captive for eight days (January 6 to 13) at the residence of one of her kidnappers in Bengaluru has been rescued by the police after a week’s detailed investigation into the case.

According to a report published in the Times of India (TOI), the victim had moved to Bengaluru with her family in 2015 and completed her BE in aerospace engineering in 2021, following which she joined a private firm in Jigani industrial area and used to live in a PG in Electronics city.

Victim held captive for 8 days

It was on January 6 when she was on her way to her office but was intercepted by the accused, one of them identified as Parthiban, who accused the victim of hitting a man with her scooter.

Nervous, the victim alerted her father of the situation and also sent him her location. However, before her father could reach the spot, the victim was taken to Parthiban’s residence where she was held captive for eight days.

They even demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh from Vikas, the victim’s father, following which he approached the Hebbagodi police and filed a complaint against the accused.

Based on the complaint filed by the victim’s father, a probe was launched and five special teams were formed under the leadership of Lakshmi Ganesh, additional SP, in an effort to nab all the accused.

As per reports by TOI, police finally found a lead in the case when a food order was placed using the mobile number of one of the accused, following which the address was also traced and a 34-year-old software engineer identified as Parthiban A, his pregnant wife, Vasanth a Parthiban (30), his brother-in-law, Ravichandra (28), and driver Mohammed Suleman were arrested in connection with the case.

All the accused are the residents of Doddakammanahalli near Hulimavu. The victim was rescued from Parthiban’s residence on January 13.
