BCCI to announce India’s 2015 Cricket World Cup squad on January 6

New Delhi: The Indian team for the upcoming Cricket World Cup and the tri-series in Australia will be announced on January 6, reports said.

The 2015 World Cup is scheduled from February 14 to March 29 in Australia and New Zealand. But defending champions will first play in a triangular cricket series involving Australia and England, from January 16 to February 1.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Sanjay Patel was quoted as saying, “The selection of the squad for the tri-series and World Cup will be done at 1 pm in Mumbai on January 6.”

As reported earlier, BCCI’s selection panel headed by Sandeep Patil, has already shortlisted 30 players for the World Cup and it will prune to 15 players.

India have won the 2011 World Cup at home under Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s leadership and he is expected to once again lead the team despite the recent brouhaha over the sudden retirement from Test cricket amidst the tour Down Under.
