BCCI recommends Rohit Sharma for Arjuna Award

rohit-sharma-tonNew Delhi: In the BCCI’s working committee meet on Sunday at Kolkata, the board recommended batsman Rohit Sharma for the prestigious Arjuna Award for the year 2015.

Last year on 13th November, the Mumbai lad created history by becoming the first man ever to smash two double-centuries in One Day Internationals (ODI). Rohit got his second double-ton against Sri Lanka in one of his favourite grounds Eden Gardens. His 265-run innings forced cricketing world to ackowledge the gifted player’s prominence in the game.

His first double hundred (209) came against Australia in Bangalore on November 3, 2013.

Rohit’s 265-run knock is still the highest score in a match by an individual in ODI history.

The 27-year-old is currently playing in the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).

The ODI opener for India is leading the Mumbai Indians franchise, who has struggled thus far in the on-going edition of the League.

In 2014, Team India’s spinner India off-spinner R Ashwin was conferred the award, an Indian government honour to recognise outstanding achievement in the field of sports.
