Fatehgarh Sahib, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Avtar Singh Makkar today said the Union Government should take immediate and concrete steps to stop the screening of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s movie “Messenger of God” (MSG) in the state. He said all the Sikh organisations were against the screening of this film and so, if it was allowed, the entire responsibility in case of any law and order problem would be of the Union Government.
He was talking to mediapersons after inaugurating Bebe Nanaki Girls Hostel at the World University in Fatehgarh Sahib today. He said, “Sikh Sangat does not like vulgarity and it does not behove a so-called godman to act like a stuntsman.” He said he failed to understand what message Dera Sacha Sauda wanted to convey to public. He said the state government should also ban the screening as Sangat and Sikh organisations are likely to oppose.
He said the SGPC was going to set up a censor board, which would comprise various Sikh scholars and if anyone wants to make a film or documentary on a Sikh-related theme, he would have to seek permission from this board.
