Chandigarh, April 20: The two day exercise on finalising names of new ministers die induction in Punjab ended today with both Congress president Rahul Gandhi and chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh performing the balancing act.
The nine new ministers to be included at a ceremony at Raj Bhavan at 6.00 pm on April 21 include Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Sukhbinder Singh Sukh Sarkaria, Vijay Inder Singla, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Shyam Sunder Arora, OP Soni, Rana Gurmit Sodhi, Gurpreet Kangar and Balbir Singh Sidhu.
Randhawa is now considered close to state Congress chief Sunil Jakhar.
Rana Sodhi is part of Amarinder’s kitchen cabinet and he is learnt to have pressed for his induction.
Arora and Balbir Sidhu are close to senior party leader Ambika Soni.
Effort has been made to maintain regional balance.
However, the new team has people who carry the taint of illegal sand mining.
