* Appeals to all political parties to unite for common cause
Chandigarh, While appealing to all political parties and social organisations to ensure justice to young dalit girl Arshdeep Kaur who died after being pushed out of the moving bus followed by her mother Mrs Shinder Kaur near Baghapurana in Moga district, the Punjab Congress President Mr Partap Singh Bajwa today demanded resignation of the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal for lacking courage to go personally to meet the poor and hapless family to expresses condolence who belonged to the area that used to be once the Badal family’s home turf.
“It is the constitutional duty of the Chief Minister to provide sense of security to every citizen. You have failed to provide that and the horrendous, horrifying and ghastly killing of a young girl belonging to a poor dalit family in broad daylight and that too in the presence of fellow travellers is a shocking example as to how law and order situation has crumbled and the ordinary people are too scared to speak against the goonda elements who have the political patronage. Your son Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal is the Deputy Chief Minister and your daughter-in-law Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal is the Union Minister. None of you have the guts to meet the family and assure justice. Your moral weakness flow from the fact that your family business and vested interests dominate your politics and governance and are in clash with each other”, he added.
He pressed for the registration of a case under Section 304A against company’s managing director Sukhbir Badal and other directors on the pattern of the case registered in case of Nirbhaya, Uber taxi service owners and Upharr Cinema case in Delhi. He asserted there could not be two sets of law. He said permits of all bus companies owned by Sukhbir must be cancelled and the buses stopped forthwith from plying in the state.
He referred to Mrs Harsimrat Badal who had feigned ignorance about the ownership of the bus that belonged to her family and demanded she should also resign for wilfully misleading the nation. He slammed her Nanhi Chhan project for the protection of girl child as a gimmick to gain foothold for political purposes. In case she was really sincere to the cause, she would not have expressed ignorance about the bus ownership and proceeded to Baghapurana without any delay.
Mr Bajwa appealed to all Punjabis to unitedly confront the oppressive, insensitive, exploitative, degenerate and thoroughly corrupt regime of the Badals as now it had been proved beyond any doubt that it was a mafia raj and only law of the jungle prevailed in the state.
He said the youth Congress would gherao the Orbit office in Bathinda on May 3 while the company buses would be gheraoed in Mohali on May 4 in the first phase of this agitation to throw out this government which was reminiscent of Afghan invader Ahmad Shah Abdali who plundered Punjab and targeted women.
Mr Bajwa and the CLP leader Mr Sunil Jakhar called upon all the party MLAs to converge at Mohali on May 4 at 11.00 AM for this purpose along with their supporters. They said the activities of the sand and cable mafia would also be taken up during the agitation.
