Chandigarh , November 2: The Punjab Congress President Mr Partap Singh Bajwa today questioned political loyalty of the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal stating that the public had a right to know whether he was faithful to the Bharatiya Janata Party with which the Akali Dal was in alliance at the Centre and in the state or the Indian National Lok Dal in Haryana.

“Mr Sukhbir Badal has lambasted the Government of his alliance partner in Haryana from an INLD stage yesterday at Rohtak. The BJP has been in alliance with the Akali Dal for decades and he himself heads this party now. Moreover his wife Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal is a Cabinet Minister in the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre. One would like to know as to what standards of professional and political ethics is he setting by sailing in two boats, that too of the BJP’s arch rivals”, he added.

He said the problem seemed to be that Mr Sukhbir Badal wanted to appear in public and he dare not face the people in his own state, not even in his home district of Muktsar. The Akalis can’t face the wrath of the people in Punjab. Perhaps he needed a platform that was provided to him by his family friends in Haryana and his attack on Manohar Lal Khattar Government was the price that he had to pay for speaking from the INLD stage.

Mr Bajwa said ironically, while Sukhbir was training his guns against Mr. Khattar from the INLD stage at Rohtak whereas the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President Mr. Manjit Singh GK was slamming the BJP in Delhi on the issue of justice to the victims of the November 1984 anti-Sikh violence. He wanted to know whether this attack against the BJP was orchestrated out of frustration with the alliance partner that has ditched Punjab on every issue.

Referring to the CBI probe recommended by the Punjab Government into the cases of sacrilege, Mr. Bajwa stated that his stand on the alleged involvement of State agencies stands vindicated. The foreign hand theory was clearly an attempt by the Badal’s to divert public attention and mislead the people from their own devious designs and incompetency. He further called upon the Chief minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal to ensure that investigation is conducted in a time bound manner and should be monitored by the Hon’ble Supreme Court or else the entire purpose of ensuring justice would stand defeated. He also questioned the claim made by Mr. Sukhbir Badal that the case had been solved and the Punjab Police had even arrested two brothers Rupinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh from Panjgrain Khurd. The Badal’s excel at falsely implicating innocent persons to save their own skin. The transfer of DGP Sumedh Singh Saini is an example of how the DGP was made a scapegoat by Sukhbir despite the fact that as the Home Minister of the State, the political accountability rested with him.

Further Mr. Bajwa stated that the terms of reference to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are silent about inquiring the role of the Punjab Police into the police firing at Kotkapura that led to the murder of two peaceful Sikh protesters. The reference has been craftily worded to protect the police from their direct culpability in the murder of protesters. The Congress party demands that the Chief Minister must constitute a Judicial Commission under the Commissions of Inquiry Act to be headed by a sitting Judge of the Hon’ble Supreme Court to inquire into all facets and events that led to the murder of peaceful protesters and that the delinquent officers must be charged under Section 302 IPC and immediately dismissed from service.
