lambasts Harsimrat Badal’s anti- farmer and anti-Punjab role
Chandigarh, May 9: The Punjab Congress President Mr Partap Singh Bajwa today said the anti-farmer face and her lust for power had been exposed with the revelation that the Union Food Processing Minister Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal never opposed the land bill amendment proposals in the cabinet.
In a statement issued here today, he said the cat was out of the bag with the assertion made by the Bharatiya Janata Party General Secretary Mr Ram Madhav that no NDA partner had opposed it when it was brought up for discussion in the cabinet.
The PPCC chief asserted it was now clear as to why the Akali Dal backtracked from the decision of its core committee which met in Delhi a day before the bill was to be moved in the Lok Sabha and resolved to oppose it unequivocally. He said this decision was now part of the record. However, the party made a volte face when the bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha. The core committee decision was only to befool the people as the Badal family could not withdraw Mrs Harsimrat Badal from the cabinet as she wanted to stick to power even by trading the interests of the people in general and that of Punjab in particular.
In this context, he also referred to the honest confession made Mr Naresh Gujral, the Rajya Sabha member of the Akali Dal saying that the NDA had not met even once since the formation of the Narendra Modi government.
“It is clear that the Akali Dal is willing to face every humiliation and indignity to keep Mrs Harsimrat Badal in the Union cabinet. The Modi government has not only been ignoring the alliance partners, this government has proved to be the worst so far as Punjab is concerned”, he added.
He said in case the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal had the moral courage, he should make public the comparative statement of the gains to Punjab during the UPA as against the Modi regime. He alleged that the Modi government had ditched Punjab on every issue but Mrs Harsimrat Badal had been keeping her mouth shut on this naked discrimination to her parent state only to be in the cabinet.
