Chandigarh, The outgoing PPCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa would reach the rally venue in a convoy of cars of his supporters, who have been told to gather at a hotel in Bathinda early in the morning on December 15.
“I will reach Bathinda a day before the rally. The Congress leaders, who worked along with me in the PPCC, will reach the next morning,” he said. Bajwa, who hosted what he described a “thanksgiving lunch” for his supporters here today, has assured the latter of “protecting their political interests”.
“Many of them are worried. They say they may not get their due since I am moving out. But I have told them not to worry,” he said.
Bajwa said around 300 leaders, including districts presidents and other senior leaders, attended the lunch.
“Among those present were Inderjit Singh Zira, Shamsher Singh Rai, Mai Roop Kaur, Jasbir Singh Dimpa, Paramjit Singh Mann, Rajinder Deepa, Harpal Saini, Rajiv Bhagat, Rajanbir Singh, Navdeep Singh Mokha, Sukhdev Singh Shahbazpuri, Jagtar Rajla and Gura Singh Tungwali. No MLA was invited,” he said.
Bajwa said his message to his supporters was that they should continue to work hard to strengthen the party. “The party is facing a challenge from the SAD-BJP combine and the AAP. The fight would very tight in the next elections. We have to win through joint efforts,” he said.
