Chandigarh, The Punjab Congress President Mr Partap Singh Badal today described Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal who talked of big ticket projects while the existing industry in the state was decaying with the state government having turned a deaf to its plight.
In a statement, Mr Bajwa said it was perhaps for the first time that any sector of the economy in the state had to resort to sarcastic ads in the newspapers ridiculing the industrial policy that had been announced with much fanfare by Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal himself although the department of industries at that was with Mr Anil Joshi from the BJP. That policy totally ignored the existing units in the state and despite the situation having been pointed out repeatedly, the state government refused to apply course correction.
He referred to the Punjab investment summit having been organised by the Parkash Singh Badal government the only highlight of which was the presentation made by Mr Sukhbir Badal to the industrialists to attract investment. However, nothing had materialised from that mega show which only ended up as his self-projection. It was his self-projection that had now become an object of ridicule by the industrialists.
He pointed out that what to talk of the new investment, more than 18000 units in the state had closed down during the last some years but it seemed nothing moved this government except the business interests of the ruling family.
He said what was all the more ironical that the industries department continued to be with the BJP but the minister concerned, Mr Madan Mohan Mittal, was not paying attention to this vital sector of the economy as he had realised his helplessness at the level of policy making that was under the control of the Deputy Chief Minister.
He slammed the BJP for functioning as a second fiddle to the Akali Dal and as a spineless party that had miserably failed to administer even those departments which were with the ministers from this party. In this context, he also referred to the local bodies department which was also getting diktats from Mr Sukhbir Badal. He said the people would punish the saffron brigade for conniving with the Akali Dal in mismanagement, non-governance and corruption.
