SAS Nagar, Preference to employ women workers is being given in the govt. Sectors as well as in private sectors. Taking this initiative, Sigma Freudenberg NOK (SFN), an Indo-German- Japanese joint venture has setup its unit at Basma near Banur, where preference will be given to employ women workers. The company will employ 50% women workers at various work fields.
The inauguration in this unit will be done on 4th February by Chief Minister Punjab Sh. Parkash Singh Badal. As stated by Sh. J.D. Singh Chairman Sigma group, the plant has been set up in 40 acres with total investment of Rs. 185 crore & will be operated fully on Indo-German Japan techniques. This plant will provide new employment opportunities in the region. With the efforts of Punjab Govt. The plant thus setup at SAS Nagar has contributed in the industrial growth of the state. Govt. Of Punjab has framed new policies for the betterment of industries in the state & the govt. has also declared some of the special considerations to encourage the investors in the state so that new employment opportunities could be ensured.
Further Chairman Sigma Group said that this is the second unit of SFN. He said that the first unit is running successfully since 2001 at SAS Nagar, whereas the second unit has been set up to meet the ever growing demand of oil seals in various sectors including automotive, agriculture, construction, mining ,power and steel industry. He said that this unit at Basma will produce oil seals including Radial Shaft Seals for Engine, Shock Absorber Seals, Valve and Steering Seals and Rubber Boots and O-Ring for various Indian and Global automotive companies including Maruti Suzuki, Honda Siel, Tata motors, Toyota, Ford, Ashok Leyland, Lucas TVS, Toyota, Eicher, Escorts Hyundai, Volkswagon, and Mercedes. It will produce and export hydraulic, Pneumatic oil seals, packaging and diaphragms for engineering industry including Tata steel, Jindal steel, ABB, BHEL, ONGC, JCB, BEML, Bosch Rexorth, and tractor units. The 100 per cent eco friendly SFN Basma unit will generate employment for more than 2000 skilled and semi skilled workers with about 50 per cent being women mostly from nearby towns and villages.
