Chandigarh, November 22: The Punjab Congress President, Mr Partap Singh Bajwa, today urged the Chief Minister Mr Partap Singh Badal, to sack the Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal on the ground that he is suffering from mental disorder.

“You have yourself expressed complete disagreement with the contention with which the Deputy Chief Minister approached the President Mr Pranab Mukherjee for declaring theCongress as anti-national party. This is evident enough that Mr Sukhbir Badal is not in sound state of mind and as such, he should not be retained in the government. His sack would also  soothe the hurt feelings of the people in the state who are angry at the way the situation has been handled over the last about three months”, Mr Bajwa told Mr Badal.

He pointed out this was not the first time that father and son had publicly differed as the day Badal senior was seeking apology from the people for his any act of omission or commission,Badal Junior was threatening the people. The problem was that this could lead to utter chaos in the government with contradictory orders being issued and the repercussions would be far reaching and too serious. This situation defied all cannons of governance and hence, Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal must be shown the door in the broader interest of the state.

He said Mr Sukhbir Badal was trying to re-define the term nationalist by terming the Congressas anti-national while it is the Akali Dal  that has been raising the secessionist demand and moreover, he must  tell the people whether signing of the Khalistan memorandum submitted to the UN Secretary General demanding Khalistan by Mr Badal was a nationalist activity or anti-national activity. It might be a nationalist activity for a Khalistani but not a person who is committed to the unity and integrity of the country.

“I advise Mr Sukhbir Badal to at least read the history of his own party and in case he so desires, I can send him the books detailing the track record of the party that he himself heads. He should know as to at what stage his party came out openly in support of the killers and hailed them and at what stages his party extended open support to the demand for Khalistan.  The very allegations with which he tried to smear the nationalist  Congress rather apply to his own party. This is a challenge that he must accept or apologise”, he said.

Mr Bajwa said the Deputy Chief Minister could not take refuge behind thick wall of security to keep himself aloof from the masses seething with anger against his government. In case he had the guts, he should face the people.
