Badal seeks direct intervention of Parrikar to start construction of the upcoming SSc north in Ropar

New Delhi,Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today called on the Union Defence Mr. Manohar Parrikar  for seeking his direct intervention to early begin the construction on the upcoming Service Selection Center (SSC) North over 200 acres in Ropar.

The Chief Minister called on Mr. Parrikar in his office at South block this afternoon.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that Mr. Badal also apprised the Union Minister about the prestigious Punjab State War Heroes Memorial cum Museum coming up in Amritsar at a cost of Rs 130 crore in recognition with the gallantry services of our Defence personnel while safeguarding our country from the external aggression and internal disturbances. He urged Mr. Parrikar  to direct all the serving Chiefs of the Armed Forces for donating decommissioned combat equipment, war memorabilia and other regimental artifacts for display in this museum.  Mr. Badal hoped that these rare artifacts and other Army equipments would certainly infuse the spirit of patriotism amongst the younger generations besides keeping our countrymen abreast with the lofty ideals and traditions of Indian Armed forces.

Responding to the issues raised by the Chief Minister, Mr. Parrikar said that he would soon direct the Ministry of Defence to commence the construction work at SSC North in Ropar. He also assured Mr. Badal that he would soon take up the issue of donating regimental artifacts and war memorabilia to the Punjab State War Heroes Memorialcum Museum coming up in Amritsar and said, ”       It will certainly be an opportunity of great pride and honor for the Defence services to make a humble contribution in this project to showcase the gallantry deeds of our brave soldiers”.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Principal Secretary Mr. SK Sandhu, Special Principal Secretary Mr. KJS Cheema, Principal Resident Commissioner Mrs. Kalpana Mittal Baruah and Resident Commissioner Mr. K Sivaprasad.
