Chandigarh, Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today reviewed the arrangements of the foundation stone laying ceremony of upcoming world class Jang-e-Azadi Memorial at Kartarpur in Jalandhar district, to be held on October 12.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s office said that a meeting in this regard was held under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister here at his office today, in which he asked the Member Secretary Jang-e-Azadi Memorial Foundation Dr. Barjinder Singh Hamdard to invite Freedom fighters and their family members to ensure their participation in the function.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hamdard apprised the Chief Minister that the Foundation was making elaborate arrangements for this mega event, expected to be attended to by more than 50,000 persons on October 12, 2014. The executive committee was making all-out efforts to make this function a grand success, informed Dr. Hamdard. Various Sub committees had also been constituted to oversee the arrangements pertaining to Invitation, Stages, cultural program, Traffic, Transport, parking and other logistics.
It may be recalled that to showcase the rich legacy and enormous contribution of Punjabis in the Indian freedom struggle, SAD-BJP government under the guidance of Mr. Badal had taken a unique initiative to construct a world class state-of-the-art memorial over an area of 25 acre at Kartarpur at a cost of Rs.200 crore.
Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included Chief Secretary Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. SK Sandhu, Secretary Cultural Affairs Mrs. Raji P Srivastva, State Transport Commissioner and Director Information and Public Relations Mr. Ashwani Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Kamal Kishore Yadav, ADGP Traffic Mr. RP Singh, IG Security RPS Brar, DIG Jalandhar Range Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, SSP Jalandhar (Rural) Mr. Narinder Bhargav and CEO of the Jang-e-Azadi memorial foundation Mr.Vinay Bublani.
