Chandigarh, In a press statment today Ex Mla Sukhpal Singh Khaira said Badal has mortgaged Punjab’s interest to the Chautala clan, in lieu of the Rs. 10,000 crore 17 acre prime Orbit Resorts property at Gurgaon. The core reason of the Badal duo’s hectic campaigning in favour of the Chautala’s in Haryana by even annoying their alliance partners BJP, is solely based on massive monetary favours granted to them by the Ch. Devi Lal clan.
The bone of contention is the Rs. 10,000 crore worth 17 acres of prime commercial property in the heart of Gurgaon, gifted by Ch. Devi Lal way back in 1989, for a throwaway price of Rs. 4 crores. The said property now houses two 7-star hotels owned by Sukhbir Badal, a foundation for the flourishing business empire of the Badals.he added
This precious gift of Ch. Devi Lal was to return a huge favour of Mr. Badal, who as Chief Minister Punjab accepted a Rs. 2 crore cheque from the Haryana govt., to allow the digging of the controversial Satluj-Yamuna Link Canal (SYL) in the year 1978-79.
The disputed construction of SYL canal not only led to a mass agitation “Morcha” being launched by the Akali Dal from V. Kapoori in April 1980, but also engulfed Punjab in the whirlpool of terrorism consuming more than 25,000 innocent lives. Unfortunately, Mr. Badal has till date not contradicted receiving Rs. 2 crore official cheque from Ch. Devi Lal in lieu of SYL canal construction, or denied why he was present on the occasion of first dig made by the Haryana Chief Minister Ch. Devi Lal, using a specially made silver shovel.he added

As a result, the Shiromani Akali Dal under the leadership of the Badal clan has totally given up the claim over Chandigarh, left out Punjabi speaking areas of Haryana, SYL canal issue or demand for second language status for Punjabi in Haryana. These demands are now merely a formal, ceremonial and ornamental part of Akali politics, because deep down there is a complete understanding between the two feudal families, not to raise these issues.he said
Therefore, Congress dares Mr. Badal to come forward and deny mortgaging Punjab’s interest in return of receiving the Rs. 10,000 crore property at Gurgaon. He should also clarify, why he allowed Ch. Devi Lal to make the first dig of SYL canal after receiving Rs. 2 crore payment from Haryana in 1978-79? he added
