Atmosphere of communal harmony in state won’t be allowed to vitiate: Sukhbir Singh Badal

Hoshiarpur, 19 November: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhbir Singh Badal today pledged to keep intact the atmosphere of peace and communal harmony in the state and said that the Badal family is ready to make any sacrifice for the sake of unity and integrity of Punjab. He was addressing a meeting of the workers and leaders of SAD (Badal) at Windsor palace.

Deputy Chief Minister while appealing to the workers to participate in the sadbhavna rallies in huge numbers said that the anti-panthic forces had conspired to poison the atmosphere of Punjab 35 years back too.

Listing out the achievements of the government he also said that the state government had carried out the all round rapid development of the state during the past 9 years. But the anti-panthic and anti-state forces have attacked and vitiated the atmosphere in the previous 1 month which is an ample proof of the jealousy of such rowdy anti-social elements. Coming with heavy hand on the Congress party, he said that these forces including Congress have repeatedly attacked and are still attacking the sanctity of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and SGPC, the 2 most revered institutions of Sikhism their intention being to take back the state to the bloodletting period of 30-35 years back. He said that the SAD is the party of martyrs which has always been in the forefront of the every struggle to maintain peace in the state and is ready even now to make any sacrifice.

S. Badal said that the SAD-BJP government is whole heartedly committed to the socio-economic development of traders, farming community and all the other sections of the society. He divulged that the state government has taken a historic decision today in the meeting of state cabinet held at Chandigarh in accordance with which the punishment of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji has been increased to life sentence.

On this occasion, Member of Parliament from Sri Anandpur Sahib Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, Tourism amd Cultural Affairs Minister, Punjab, S. Sohan Singh Thandal, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Bibi Mohinder Kaur Josh, MLA Dasuha Sukhjit Kaur Sahi, MLA from Garhshankar Surinder Singh Bhulewal Rathan, Youth President Doaba Zone Sarbjot Saabi were also present.
